Ath:Golden Crawford denies Gatlin sprint double

SHAWN CRAWFORD has denied fellow American JUSTIN GATLIN an Olympic sprint double, storming
to victory in the Olympic men's 200 metres to set up a United States clean sweep.

He timed 19.79 seconds.

Silver has gone to BERNARD WILLIAMS and JUSTIN GATLIN, the 100 metres winner, has taken
the bronze.

But the race was marred by ugly scenes and delayed for five minutes after the packed
75,000 crowd at the Olympic Stadium began booing and chanting support for COSTAS KENTERIS.

KENTERIS, Greece's 2000 Olympic champion in the event, withdrew from the Games after
missing a drugs test in mysterious circumstances the day before the opening ceremony.

There was no Greek runner in the final.
