NSW: $107.5 million funding for NSW mental health system = 2

The New South Wales Council of Social Service (NCOSS) welcomed the funding boost, particularly
to the non-government sector.

But NCOSS director Gary Moore warned the proposed mental health implementation group
to ensure dollars flowed into improving services - and were not used to shore up NSW Health
budget deficits.

"This substantial package of expanded services and innovations helps to reduce this
state's shameful record," Mr Moore said in a statement.

"(But) with an unknown proportion of these funds having to meet recently agreed public
sector wage increases, we hope that the claimed level of service growth in this package
can be actually achieved.

"It will be essential for NSW Health and the proposed mental health implementation
group to ensure that funds targeted for non-government organisations are not eaten up
by hospitals."
